Maryknoll Convent School

1937, Institutional

130 Waterloo Road

Completed in 1937, Maryknoll Convent School is a local landmark situated at the junction of Kowloon Tong Waterloo Road and Boundary Street, enchanting pedestrians with its signature brown architectural structure. In spring when azaleas blossom in the external area of the campus, the flowers, the granite retaining wall and brickwork of the Main Building turns the campus into a captivating picture with beautiful contrast. Layout of the Main Building adopted the blueprint of a western campus. Its eye-catching five-storey tower, gambrel-shaped roofs in deep brown and courtyard surrounded by cloisters are notable features of this academic institution located in the heart of the city. Due to changes in function, Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic extended the campus outside of the Convent and the Main Building. It is one of the finest examples demonstrating how old and new buildings can be combined without disturbing its original harmony while complementing the presence of each other.
